What's the Difference?

Absurdism and nihilism are both philosophical perspectives that challenge traditional notions of meaning and purpose in life. However, they differ in their approach and conclusions. Absurdism, as proposed by thinkers like Albert Camus, acknowledges the inherent absurdity and lack of inherent meaning in the universe, but suggests that individuals should still strive to find personal meaning and create their own purpose in life. On the other hand, nihilism, as advocated by Friedrich Nietzsche, rejects the existence of any objective meaning or value in life, asserting that life is ultimately meaningless and devoid of purpose. Nihilism often leads to a sense of despair and the belief that all actions are ultimately futile. While both perspectives question the traditional understanding of meaning, absurdism offers a more optimistic and proactive approach to finding personal significance in an inherently absurd world.
